San Lorenzo continued their sustained title challenge and came from behind to see off Quilmes and take the outright lead of the Primera on Friday night. Claudio Bieler gave the home side the lead from the penalty spot on the half hour mark after Juan Mercier was adjudged to have clipped Alexis Canelo as he wildly slashed at the ball but the lead lasted only eight minutes. Héctor Villalba stabbed San Lorenzo level from close range and just before half time El Ciclón grabbed a hugely fortuitous lead. Martín Cauteruccio’s shot came back off the post but hit Quilmes goalkeeper Walter Benítez and bounced back into the net. The visitors held on for all three points and at least until Sunday night when Boca visit Vélez they will remain as the sole leaders of the Primera.
