River Plate and Racing both enjoyed fairly comfortable evenings in the Copa Argentina against lower league opposition and took their place in the last 32 of the tournament. Racing fielded a strong side against Independiente de Neuquén in Lanús and although they were frustrated in the opening 45 minutes it didn’t take long after the break to ease any creeping tension. Gustavo Bou powered down the right side and his low cross was turned in by Brian Fernández for the opener and just after the hour mark, Bou created an almost identical goal for the youngster. No hiccup for Diego Cocca’s side and they will now face Tigre in the next round.
River made lighter work of Liniers and once again were able to give Pablo Aimar 30 minutes as he continues to improve his fitness. First half goals from Ramiro Funes Mori and Juan Kaprof put the game beyond doubt pretty early leaving Marcelo Gallardo’s side to professionally see the game out. Rosario Central wait in the next round.
