Di María has “one foot in Paris St Germain” after €60 million offer

Ángel Di María has not had the best luck of late: injury finished his World Cup in Brazil prematurely, his big money move to Manchester United has so far not proved successful and then once again on international duty his hopes of lifting a trophy with Argentina were scuppered by injury at the Copa América. Ahead of a big season with much to prove at Old Trafford it is being reported that Paris St Germain are going ahead with a huge offer to finally bring the 27-year-old to the French capital.

The French champions were United’s direct competition for Di María last summer when it became obvious that he had been deemed surplus to requirements at Real Madrid but at the time, Laurent Blanc’s side were struggling to adhere to the Financial Fairplay Regulations. This allowed United to break the British transfer record and bring El Fideo to Manchester for a whopping £59.7 million.

After a disappointing first season in England, Paris St Germain have made Di María their main transfer target once more and after off-loading Yohan Cabaye and no longer under such tight restrictions it is being reported that they have approached Manchester United with a €60 million offer.

According to French newspaper, Le Parisien: Di Maria has one foot in Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), which has offered a sum close to 60 million euros and the player a contract for four or five seasons”

It remains to be seen whether this will tempt United to cut ties so soon with a player who promises so much. It is fair to say that last season was not good but during the Copa América there were flashes of the Di María of old. If the pacy wide player could remain fit for most the season then United would have a real asset on their hands but another poor season and they will most likely lose any possibility of recouping the amount they paid.
