The form of Rosario Central over the first half of the season initially came as a slight surprise but it would appear that in spite of the break, Eduardo Coudet’s side have maintained that momentum and remain in the pack of title chasers. It took just two minutes for the Primera’s leading scorer to get back up and running on Monday evening against Aldosivi when Marco Ruben stroked Central in front from the penalty spot to claim his eleventh goal of the season and it didn’t take long for another of Central’s most important players to add a second. Young Franco Cervi was outstanding in the first half of the season and the 21-year-old further enhanced his reputation with a stunning volley to extend the lead. Luís Ángel Vildoso pulled one back for Aldosivi in injury time with a penalty but there was still time for Franco Niell to ensure victory on the break. The win moves Central level with River, just three points behind leaders Boca.
Later in Liniers, there was high drama as Vélez managed to snatch a point against Tigre with two late Milton Caraglio goals. The match burst into life after half-time when Tigre full-back Nicolás Pantaleone was shown a red card for a challenge on Yamil Asad but despite the numerical disadvantage it was the visitors who took control. Sebastián Rincón finished off a flowing counter on the volley with fifteen minutes remaining and when Federico González added a second four minutes from time it appeared that Tigre would be taking all three points. However, a minute later, Milton Caraglio pulled a goal back and in the process of diving to stop the ball Tigre keeper Javier Garcia suffered what looked like a severe ankle injury. With all substitutions already made Tigre were forced to continue for the TWELVE minutes of added time with nine men and defender Leandro González Pirez in goal. With just a couple of those added minutes remaining Diego Abal awarded a penalty for a handball and Caraglio sent the stand-in keeper the wrong way for a share of the points.
