The draw for the 14th Copa Sudamericana took place last night in Paraguay and the seven Argentine clubs discovered (more or less) who they would be facing. Holders River were not given an opponent as they are already in the last 16 but the remaining six were drawn against one another, guaranteeing FOUR Argentine clubs in the last 16.

With 47 teams currently in the draw it is still looking rather confusing but from an Argentine point of view it is clear. At the beginning of September, to be played over two legs, Belgrano will play Lanús, Independiente will play Arsenal and Tigre will have Huracán. The winners of these three matches will enter the last 16 where River already await as hosts.

The first round of the tournament will begin in August with the final on December 9th. The winner will qualify for the Copa Libertadores, and play in the Recopa Sudamericana and the Suruga Bank.
