Amid all the Tevez furore there were a couple of significant fixtures at the bottom of the table where Olimpo and Defensa y Justicia earned valuable victories over relegation rivals. in Bahía Blanca, Olimpo notched up only their second win of the season and just as they did in that other triumph, El Aurinegro scored three times although their visitors, Aldosivi gave them a helping hand. Franco Canever headed an own-goal after twenty minutes and then added a second when he was unfortunate to rebound the ball back into his own net. Still reeling from the double own-goal, Jonathan Blanco tapped in a third for the home side and although Federico León headed a late consolation, Olimpo had already sewn up the points. For a side that have scored only four goals outside of the two victories it is a huge three points for Olimpo.
In Florencio Varela, Nueva Chicago celebrated scoring a goal for the first time in over 800 minutes of football but still ended on the wrong end of the result leaving them winless in seventeen Primera matches. Alejandro Gagliardi bundled Chicago in front providing the rare goal celebration but a superb hit by Ignacio Rivero fifteen minutes after half time brought Defensa y Justicia level and shortly after Esteban Saveljich fortuitously deflected the ball past Alejandro Sanchez. Nueva Chicago continue to look doomed but it was an important victory for Defensa y Justicia who find themselves in the thick of the relegation battle.
