Guido Carrillo made a dream start to his career with Monaco in the Champions League after coming off the bench and heading his first competitive goal within two minutes. The French club travelled to Bern to face Young Boys in the Champions League Third qualifying round and after full-back Layvin Kurzawa had volleyed them in front just after the hour, Carrillo was introduced. With less than two minutes on the pitch the 24-year-old was celebrating his first goal after heading in João Moutinho’s free-kick and although the hosts pulled one back, Mario Pašalic reestablished Monaco’s two-goal advantage. Carrillo had scored in a 5-1 friendly victory over Mainz but this was his first real taste of football in Europe and scoring what is a trademark headed goal will do his confidence the world of good.
