Miguel Ángel Russo is quickly finding out (or has already found out) just how difficult the Vélez Sarsfield job is after the sale of most of their best players. In the same week that former striker Lucas Pratto hit a first half hat-trick for Atlético Mineiro, El Fortín slumped to defeat away to newly promoted Temperley. Leandro Desábato fired the visitors in front with a skidding long-range effort but two second half goals saw the home side turn the match around. Pablo Vilchez equalised from the penalty spot before Fabián Sambueza headed the winner, reacting quickly after Alan Aguerre had parried Vilchez’s initial shot. The result lifts Temperley above Vélez in the table and Russo’s side are now four without a win.

Earlier in Santa Fe, Atlético Rafaela ended a run of three straight defeats with a 2-1 win over Aldosivi but it was the visitors who took the lead. Nicolás Miracco pounced on some dreadful defending to rifle in the opener from close range but La Crema reacted superbly and within minutes they were level. Osmar Ferreyra left footed strike from outside the penalty box found the bottom corner and put Leonardo Astrada’s side deservedly level. Despite being the better side, Atlético were finding it difficult to break down Aldosivi’s defence but were given a helping hand close to the hour mark when Federico León inadvertently diverted the ball into his own net. That was enough to give Rafaela the much needed three points and with it they moved up two places in the table but remain down in 27th.

Atlético Rafaela  2 – 1  Aldosivi

Temperley  2 – 1  Vélez Sarsfield
