When Matías Almeyda’s Banfield side click they can look like a match for any side in the Primera so it was fitting that for his last game in charge, El Taladro found their cutting edge and swept aside Arsenal in the Estadio Florencio Solá. Federico Lértora actually gave the visitors the lead but it did not take long for Banfield to turn the match. Juan Cazares equalised with a superb free-kick and five minutes later the home side led when Facundo Castillón finished after good work from Gio Simeone. Before the break, a beautifully worked move between Cazares and Mauricio Cuero resulted in Simeone heading his first of the match and when the on-loan youngster tapped in his second, less than 30 seconds after half-time it was clear that Almeyda would be leaving on a high. In the press conference afterwards, Almeyda thanked the club and said that there were no disagreements but he simply needed a “change of air”. President EduardoSpinosa confirmed this and said that he thinks Almeyda will return at some point but it seems strange that they would come to this arrangement just four weeks into the resumption of the season.

Last weekend it was against Racing and on Monday night it was Alexis Canelo who was clipped whilst skipping past Sebastián D’Angelo. Claudio Bieler sent D’Angelo the wrong way to convert the spotkick and Quilmes hung onto an excellent away win.
