The lineup for the Copa Argentina last 16 was completed earlier as Atlanta and Vélez Sarsfield booked the final two places. Atlanta eventually saw off the challenge of Comunicaciones to set up a tie against Racing thanks to a 7-6 victory on penalties. Fabricio Pedrozo tapped Atlanta in front close to the hour mark but Néstor Ibáñez volleyed a late equaliser to ensure that spotkicks would be needed to find a winner. With the scores still tied after six rounds of penalties, Agustín Cattáneo was the unlucky player to see his effort saved and it left Leandro Benítez to smash in the winner for Atlanta.

Vélez Sarsfield took the final place in the last 16 in slightly easier circumstances as they defeated Acassuso 3-0 in Córdoba. Milton Caraglio volleyed the struggling Primera side in front early, Emiliano Amor headed a second just after half time and Caraglio rifled in the third on the break. Vélez have been finding things difficult this season in the league but set up a tie against Gimnasia next week.
