If there has been one team that has proved the stupidity of the 30-team Primera then it has been Nueva Chicago, but after twenty matches El Torito finally claimed all three points. Huracán were the victims and such was the embarrassment of a 3-0 defeat, manager Néstor Apuzzo immediately resigned with El Globo still struggling. Mauricio Carrasco fired the home side in front after just four minutes and even when Lucas Baldunciel doubled the lead ten minutes after the break it was difficult not to rule out a Huracán comeback. Alejandro Gagliardi bundled in a third in the 78th minute and when Ramón Ábila missed from the penalty spot late on, Chicago were able to celebrate a rare victory.
In Mendoza, Banfield began life after Matías Almeyda with an unconvincing but rewarding win against Gabriel Heinze’s Godoy Cruz. Gio Simeone continued his impressive form since moving on loan to Banfield and it took just 22 seconds for the youngster to give the visitors the lead with a superbly taken lob. Five minutes later, defender Nicolás Bianchi Arce doubled the advantage with Heinze watching on as his side looked completely at sea. The home side did begin to take control of the match but were unable to make their possession count until the 77th minute when Juan Garro rose to head a goal back. However, an equaliser did not come and it is now three without a win for rookie boss Heinze.
Surprisingly, Gio Simeone’s goal wasn’t the quickest of the day as José Sand gave Aldosivi the lead against Colón in Mar del Plata after just 14 seconds. Ismael Banegas cancelled it out midway through the first half with an unmarked (albeit offside) header and so the match ended 1-1.
