Gustavo Alfaro’s Tigre side hadn’t lost at home in 2015 and had conceded only four goals from their previous ten matches so no one could have predicted a Huracán side, that have won only two from their last fifteen Primera games, would run riot in Victoria. 20-year-old forward Cristian Espinoza hit a hat-trick as El Globo raced into a five-goal lead and effectively looked to end the tie after just an hour of the first leg. Two late Tigre goals might just provide a glimmer of hope, such is the inconsistency of Huracán but new manager Eduardo Domínguez could not have asked for more from only his second match in charge.
Mauro Bogado smashed the visitors into an early lead from the penalty spot and the lively Espinoza bagged his first of the night shorlty after. El Globo missed his pace in the first half of the season and his opening goal illustrated his threat as he darted in behind the normally tight Tigre defence to slot past Sebastián D’Angelo.
With Tigre reeling, Huracán caught them on the break just before half-time and once more if was Espinoza who applied the finishing touch. The home side needed to regroup and ensure after half time that no further damage was done.
However, Huracán did not let up and Ramón Ábila headed a fourth before Espinoza ran clear once again to tap in El Globo’s fifth and complete his hat-trick.
The tie appeared over, and it should still be in truth, but two late goals from Lucas Wilchez and Carlos Luna reduced the deficit to just three.
