Ferro fought valiantly against Primera title challengers, Rosario Central in Huracán’s Estadio Tomás Adolfo Ducó but like Atlanta the night before came up just short of the upset. Eduardo Coudet’s side dominated the 90 minutes and came close on several occasions to breaking the deadlock but found themselves either thwarted by Cristian Lamousin, the frame of the goal or their own poor finishing. With the score locked at nil-nil, it went to penalties and Luís Salmerón having the first Ferro spotkick saved proved decisive. There was a little bit of extra drama when Gonzalo Bazán also had his penalty saved by Central keeper, Manuel García but the spin on the ball took it back over the goalline according to the eagle-eyed linesman. Ultimately it didn’t matter and Marco Ruben struck the final penalty to book a quarter-final tie against either Estudiantes or Quilmes.
