The last time Aldosivi tasted victory in the Primera was their memorable 3-0 win in La Bombonera over Boca Juniors. That was back at the end of May and since then El Tiburón lost six of the next eight. Conversely, San Martín arrived in Mar del Plata having not lost in six but the form guide was immediately thrown out the window when Guillermo Ortíz stabbed the home side in front with barely a minute on the clock. Fifteen minutes later and the lead was doubled. José Sand managed to stick an outstretched boot on the end of a deep cross and divert the ball past Leonardo Corti to provide Aldosivi with a cushion. San Martín enjoyed the majority of possession but were unable to find a way back into the match.

Earlier, Quilmes’ fine run of form was halted by Temperley, after the visitors were able to claim a fourth goalless draw from their previous five matches. Since Facundo Sava took over Los Cerveceros they have recorded four straight wins but there was no way past a resolute Temperley side. Rodrigo Braña was sent off for the hosts midway through the second half but it made no impact on the result.

Quilmes  0 – 0  Temperley

Aldosivi  2 – 0  San Martín
