Godoy Cruz are a club in crisis at the moment and aside from the supporters rioting in the stands and the calls for Gabriel Heinze’s resignation, Tigre inflicted a fourth straight defeat on La Tomba. A clumsy challenge by Fernando Zuqui on Jorge Nuñez provided Carlos Luna with the opportunity to give the home side the lead from the penalty spot and the well travelled striker made no mistake. Heading for defeat, Jaime Ayoví offered a glimmer of hope when he headed Godoy Cruz level with a little less than ten minutes remaining but a defensive lapse allowed Santiago Izaguirre to head a simple winner and seal all three points for Tigre.
Banfield managed to snatch an injury time draw against Argentinos Juniors to maintain their impressive run of form since Matías Almeyda walked away as manager. The visitors themselves arrived in good spirits after demolishing Crucero del Norte last week and it only took seven minutes for Lautaro Rinaldi to give them the lead. However, it was not to be Rinaldi’s night. The striker blazed over a second half penalty and in stoppage time was sent off after picking up a second yellow card. Deep into added time, Néstor Pitana awarded a second penalty and Sergio Víttor beat Adrián Gabbarini to earn the home side a share of the points.
