Boca Juniors have reportedly just been beaten to the signature of full-back Milton Casco by River Plate and if newspaper in Italy are to be believed they may face a battle to keep hold of right-back, Gino Peruzzi in January. Serie A side, Fiorentina are keeping tabs on the 23-year-old and may offer the four-times capped Argentina international a route back to Italy after his unsuccessful spell with Catania.

Fiorentina’s search for a right-back ahead of the January is being well documented in the Italian press and according to La Nazione, Boca Juniors’ Gino Peruzzi is one of those being considered. Sporting director Daniele Pradè is understood to be watching the experienced youngster and certainly the fact that the former Vélez defender has an Italian passport and has already played in Serie A makes him a more attractive proposition.

Over the past nine months, Peruzzi has been reestablishing himself after a difficult season and a half with Catania but his performances with Boca in 2015 have seen a return to form and helped Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s side to the top of the Primera División.

That form that Peruzzi is trying to recapture is from the beginning of his career with Vélez Sarsfield when he famously shackled Neymar for Santos in the Copa Libertadores and was quickly touted as a future Argentina international. Four appearances for La Albiceleste followed as did a switch to Europe but after struggling to hold down a place with Catania, Peruzzi found himself back in Argentina.

Still only 23, there is plenty of time for Peruzzi to be a success in Europe and reclaim a place in the national side. If Boca lift the league title at the end of the year a transfer would not be out of the question and with the full-back position being an area of weakness for Argentina, you would not bet against Peruzzi adding to his four appearances.
