Facundo Sava’s unbelievable start to life as Quilmes boss continued last night as his side extended their fine run of form with a narrow victory over Colón. Claudio Bieler’s close range header, his tenth goal of the season, was enough for another three points and means that Sava is yet to taste defeat after taking over from Julio César Falcioni eight matches ago. Four wins from their first seventeen matches this season has transformed into six victories in eight and seen Los Cerveceros climb from almost the foot of the table up to 13th.
Belgrano’s hopes of achieving a top six finish appear to be fading after dropping another two points and now having won only once in their last eight matches. Atlético Rafaela were the visitors to the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes, one week after the two sides drew in the Nuevo Monumental, and were grateful to the woeful finishing of their hosts to leave with a point. La Celeste carved out a number of glorious opportunities over the match but failed to convert just one of them meaning that Ricardo Zielinski’s side continue to slip down the table.
