On-loan Aldosivi forward, Roger Martínez was the victim of a violent robbery after returning to his apartment in Avellaneda on Wednesday morning. The 21-year-old had been in his native Colombia training with the under-23 squad ahead of possible selection for the 2016 Olympics but had flown back to Buenos Aires ahead of this weekend’s Primera matches. Martínez is currently on loan from Racing Club and was returning to his apartment when thieves highjacked his car at gun point, drove to a nearby villa and robbed most of the his belongings, including the clothes he was wearing. This comes just a couple of months after Martínez was assaulted and robbed at Retiro train station in Buenos Aires.
Martínez has been perhaps Aldosivi’s best player this season but is a doubt for El Tiburón’s clash with River Plate this weekend after this latest incident. The youngster is yet to speak to the press since the robbery but Aldosivi coach, Fernando Quiroz spoke to Radio La Red and confirmed: “Roger was kidnapped, taken to a villaandleftnaked. He was also assaulted in Retiro (in reference to the attack in August). Unfortunately he is going to have to tread more carefully.”
According to reports, Martínez had driven from Ezeiza international airport to his apartment in the early hours of Wednesday morning with his representative, Fernando López. When they arrived at the apartment complex, an armed man stopped the car and forced his way in before asking that they drive the short distance to Villa Tranquila. The 21-year-old was robbed of his phone, a bag of clothes (including much of what he was wearing), a notebook, his passport and $5,500 before being able to leave and call the police.
This latest attack comes a little over two months since Martínez was punched and robbed at the bus terminal in Retiro.
