River’s post-Libertadores slump continued on Sunday afternoon and Aldosivi were able to leave the Estadio Monumental with a point after Marcelo Gallardo’s side toiled in front of goal. The home side actually started brightly and had the ball in the net with barely a minute on the clock but with the ball ricocheting in off Sebastián Driussi in an offside position after Lucho González’s initial effort had hit the post, it was a correct call from Germán Delfino. It looked only a matter of time before River would take the lead but against the run of play, Pablo Lugüercio’s header meant it was Aldosivi celebrating. Driussi had another chalked off for offside before half-time and when frustration was beginning to creep in with around fifteen minutes remaining, Rodrigo Mora clipped River level. Los Millonarios were unable to find a winner and extended their winless run in the Monumental to five and made it only two wins from ten in the Primera. Focus for River is now entirely on the Copa Sudamericana and the Club World Cup at the end of the year.

Tigre returned to form with a 3-1 win over Banfield in Victoria and with the three points still have a chance of capturing a Copa Libertadores playoff spot. A wonderful Federico González strike and smart close range finish from Facundo Sánchez put the home side in charge and although Iván Rossi’s fierce volley reduced the deficit, Sebastián Rincón made certain of the result. Tigre jumped above Banfield and sit just three points behind Estudiantes in sixth with two to play.

Tigre  3 – 1  Banfield

River Plate  1 – 1  Aldosivi
