While Huracán’s league form still continues to stutter, El Globo are gradually forming a reputation as a bit of a cup side and on Tuesday evening in Parque Patricios, Eduardo Domínguez took a small step towards the Copa Sudamericana semi-finals. Uruguayan side, Defensor Sporting were the visitors and provided a stern test as both sides fashioned chances. However, with the match seemingly heading for a goalless draw, Huracán’s reliable cult hero, Ramón ‘Wanchope’ Ábila popped up to head a decisive first leg winner. There is still much to do from next week’s return in Montevideo but with the goal advantage, Huracán know that they have a great chance of claiming the first spot in the semi-final. A potential clash with Independiente or Santa Fe awaits them there
