Vélez have fallen so far in 2015 that the visit of a River Plate reserve side to Liniers still proved too much for Miguel Ángel Russo and his inexperienced side. El Fortín may consider themselves unlucky as they were more competitive than previous matches but ultimately still fell short. Lucas Alario came off the bench after his spell on the sidelines through injury and pounced on an error by goalkeeper, Alan Aguerre to tap in the only goal of the game. The centre forward has been a real miss for Marcelo Gallardo’s side and will provide a real boost ahead of the Copa Sudamericana semi-final and the upcoming Club World Cup.

San Martín’s trip to Santa Fe to face Unión didn’t provide much excitement other than the dog on the pitch in the opening minutes but both sides have had successful season and sit comfortably in the Copa Sudamericana playoff spots.

Vélez Sarsfield  0 – 1  River Plate

Unión  0 – 0  San Martín
