Quilmes had to wait until last weekend for a first three points of the Primera season but followed it up on Sunday night with a 2-1 victory over Vélez Sarsfield in Liniers. Jorge Correa had swept the home side in front five minutes before half time but El Fortín were unable to reach the break with their lead intact. Former Vélez striker, Ezequiel Rescaldani fired Quilmes level in stoppage time and swung the momentum in favour of the visitors. Daniel Imperiale was guilty of perhaps the miss of the season after charging down an Alan Aguerre clearance and then missing the ball with the goal open. However, it didn’t prove costly as Brian Mansilla slid in a second shortly afterwards and it proved to be the winner. The home side had Cristian Nasuti sent off late on as their frustrating form continues while Los Cerveceros have finally put an end to their woeful start to 2016.
