Atlético Madrid have had a pretty good track record with goalkeepers in recent seasons and the hope for Argentina is that their latest acquisition, Axel Werner, proves equally successful.

Atlético de Rafaela took to Twitter to confirm the move after weeks of speculation and although the 20-year-old keeper is currently with the Argentina Olympic squad, it would appear his future lies in Madrid.

Werner is an academy product at Atlético de Rafaela and only made his first team debut in August 2015 but during the 2016 Transición earlier this year whilst Germán Montoya was injured, the youngster showcased his talents.

This prompted Argentina to name him as understudy to Gerónimo Rulli in the Olympic squad and Werner has swiftly secured himself a european move.

The transfer has not yet been confirmed by Atlético Madrid but that would appear just a matter of time.
