Last week’s first leg should have been far more comfortable than the 2-1 scoreline suggested but thankfully San Lorenzo it didn’t matter as Los Cuervos travelled to Venezuela and defeated Deportivo La Guaira with relative ease.

Emmanuel Mas slid in a nerve settling opener after 18 minutes from Fernando Belluschi’s low cross and when Nicolás Blandi tucked away a second the tie was as good as over.

The hosts made absolutely certain when they were reduced to nine men after the break and so San Lorenzo were able to book their place in the quarter final and a tie against Chilean side, Palestino.

Deportivo La Guaira  0 –  2  San Lorenzo (1-4 AGG)
