After a week off for the World Cup qualifiers the Primera returned and had it not been for an Alexís Soto error it may well have served up two goalless draws. As it was Andrés Ríos capitalised to hand Defensa y Justicia their first win of the season and in Córdoba, Belgrano were unable to find a way past Aldosivi.
After a difficult fixture list to start the season Ariel Holán was desperate for his Defensa y Justicia side to earn an opening three points of the campaign but despite dominating large parts of Friday’s clash with Banfield, it appeared the home side were heading for another draw.
However, with less than ten minutes minutes remaining Argentina under-23 international Alexís Soto’s serious lapse allowed Ríos through on goal and the 27-year-old fired the ball past Hilario Navarro.
A little later and there was nothing between Belgrano and Aldosivi as the defences came out on top in a goalless draw.
