Argentine footballer Sebastián Pol could face a jail term after attacking a supporter at full time following his side’s defeat to Universidad Católica in the Chilean top flight on Saturday.
Audax Italiano had lost 4-1 to Universidad Católica and amid heated scenes after the whistle, Pol climbed up onto the fence between the dugouts and the supporters and kicked one of those directing abuse at him.
The 28-year-old was arrested by local police and taken from the visitors’ dressing room to the local station where he could face severe punishment under the tough sanctions against violence inside football stadiums in Chile.
