Eduardo Coudet will be hoping that it’s third-time lucky for Rosario Central as El Canalla booked a place in the Copa Argentina final for the third consecutive year after beating Belgrano in Formosa.
A fairly balanced semi final was swung in favour of Central on the stroke of half time when Guillermo Farré was shown a straight red card for an ugly challenge on Teo Gutiérrez and the numerical advantage allowed Coudet’s side to take control.
Giovani Lo Celso had gone closest to a breakthrough with a dipping volley that hit the upright but eventually the opening goal came when Gutiérrez crossed for Marco Ruben to nod the ball in from close range.
Belgrano never really looked like salvaging an equaliser and in stoppage time, Teo Gutiérrez was again the architect as the Colombian released Walter Montoya on the counter for the midfielder to skip round Juan Carlos Olave and end the contest.
Central await the winners of Thursday night’s other semi final between River Plate and Gimnasia hoping for different luck in the final.
