Marcelo Gallardo’s focus is firmly fixed on Saturday’s first superclásico of the year but the defensive lapses displayed by his team of academy products and squad players that allowed Aldosivi to claim victory in Mar del Plata will have been disappointing.

River led at half time after Gonzalo Montiel turned in the rebound from Rodrigo Mora’s well saved free kick but fell to pieces defensively after the break.

Moments after the restart a free kick into the River penalty box wasn’t dealt with and Antonio Medina was left in acres of space to slot the ball past the helplessly exposed Enrique Bologna.

Six minutes later River’s young defence were again left floundering as Ismael Quilez finished off a swift counter and the most calamitous of all came in the 73rd minute. In an attempt to play out from the back, Nicolás Domingo was caught in possession and it allowed Medina to square the ball for Neri Bandieri to tap in.

Full rested, Gallardo will have his strongest side back available for the clash with Boca Juniors on Saturday.

River Plate  1 – 3  Aldosivi
