Tempers ran high on Boca Juniors’ training pitch on Tuesday morning as Juan Manuel Insaurralde and Jonathan Silva came to blows and were promptly sent packing by a furious Guillermo Barros Schelotto.

TyC sports’ cameras caught the flash point and after a flurry of punches the two were separated by teammates.

Insaurralde walked straight to the dressing room with his training shirt almost torn off while Silva was led away by another of the coaching staff.

Immediately after training both players appeared in front of the press to apologise and Insaurralde said: “I want to apologize to Jony [Silva], to my teammates, the technical staff, the fans and the club. What I did wasn’t right. It was five seconds of anger.”

Training ground flare ups are not exactly new to Insuarralde but Boca president Daniel Angelici has come out to say that both players will be sanctioned.

“This is not the typical behaviour of a professional footballer for Boca Juniors, and that is why they will be sanctioned,” Angelici tweeted.

It isn’t clear exactly what these sanctions will be but television reports suggested that it would go beyond just a fine.
