At nearly 36 years of age, Andrés D’Alessandro still knows how to hit a mean free-kick and the former River Plate playmaker did so to devastating effect in Internacional’s cup victory over Sampaio Correa on Wednesday evening.
Inter were already cruising into the next round thanks to earlier goals by Carlos and a 4-1 first leg victory but that took nothing away from the quality of D’Alessandro’s strike.
At least 25 yards from goal, the veteran midfielder picked out the top corner with his wand-like left foot and wrapped up a convincing 7-1 aggregate scoreline.
