Edgardo Bauza had the rest of his Argentina squad arrive this morning and aside from the boost of having Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano report to training, medical staff confirmed that Paulo Dybala has not suffered a muscle tear.
The Juventus forward was a doubt for the World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Bolivia after limping out of last weekend’s victory over Sampdoria and although the slight strain may keep the 23-year-old out of the starting line-up on Thursday, Dybala should be able to take a place on the bench.
In his absence, Bauza looks set to try Sergio Agüero once more in a withdrawn role behind Gonzalo Higuaín with Lionel Messi and Ángel Di María operating either side.
Probable starting XI: Romero; Mercado, Otamendi, Rojo, Mas; Biglia, Mascherano; Messi, Agüero y Di María; Higuaín
Chile, already without the influential Arturo Vidal and Marcelo Díaz, were boosted by the news that Alexis Sánchez and Gary Medel should both be fit to face Argentina.
Possible starting XI: Claudio Bravo; Mauricio Isla, Roco or Medel, Gonzalo Jara, Jean Beausejour; Silva, Pedro Hernández; José Fuenzalida, Valencia; Sánchez, Eduardo Vargas
