A share of the points doesn’t really help either side in the relegation battle but certainly Huracán will be the happier after an 85th-minute penalty denied Vélez Sarsfield a valuable victory on Monday evening.
Diego Zabala headed Vélez into a half time lead despite both sides rattling the woodwork and Huracán will certainly feel that their efforts deserved some reward.
Despite El Globo’s continued pressure it took a somewhat dubious penalty five minutes from time to pull level. Fabián Assmann was careless in going to ground so quickly and it allowed Julio Angulo the chance to invite contact and win the spot kick. Mauro Bogado tucked it away to ensure a point but both sides still hover just above the drop zone.
Later in Córdoba, Talleres followed up their win over Boca Juniors in La Bombonera with a 1-0 victory against Olimpo.
Jonathan Menéndez’s fine volley ten minutes after half time proved decisive and while for La T it is now an impressive one defeat in eleven, Olimpo drop back into the fourth and final relegation place.
