Shakhtar Donetsk all but wrapped up the Ukrainian league title on Friday with victory over their closest rivals Dynamo Kyiv thanks to a towering header by former Banfield and Vélez Sarsfield striker Facundo Ferreyra.
The 26-year-old climbed above his marker in the eleventh minute to head Taison’s floated cross back over the goalkeeper and into the far post for his second goal since the championship round began at the start of the month.
Shakhtar are now fourteen points clear of Dynamo Kyiv at the top of the table and with just one defeat in 26 matches, only a remarkable drop in form would see Paulo Fonseca’s side not lift the title.
