Paris Saint-Germain are certainly ensuring that Monaco have to work if they are to wrestle the Ligue 1 title out of the Parisians grasp after a 2-0 win over Montpellier sent Unai Emery’s side top of the table for now at least.
Edinson Cavani and Ángel Di María have been in scintillating form of late and both were on target as PSG secured an eighth straight league win.
Di María had already tested Laurent Pionnier in the Montpellier goal from long range before he crossed for Cavani to head in what looked to be the opener only for an offside goal to deny the home side.
However, it wasn’t too long before Cavani poked in his 31st goal of the season from close range and just after half time, Di María made life more comfortable with a superb, curled finish into the bottom corner.
Angel Di Maria has now been directly involved in 22 goals for PSG across all competitions this season (14G, 8A).
