Shakhtar Donetsk celebrated a tenth Ukrainian league title on Saturday after beating Zorya Luhansk 3-2 to comfortably sew up the championship with games to spare.
Former Banfield and Vélez striker Facundo Ferreyra lifted the trophy in his debut season with Shakhtar back in the 2013/14 season but Chucky had played a far less prominent role on that occasion.
This season, Ferreyra has been the main source of goals for Paulo Fonseca’s side and the 26-year-old opened the scoring on Saturday with a well-timed run and stretched volley past the keeper.
Further goals from Ismaily and Ivan Ordets made it three but two late goals almost upset the party.
Shakhtar held on to end rivals, Dynamo Kyiv’s two-year title reign with five matches remaining and Chucky Ferreyra currently leads the scoring charts with thirteen goals to his name.
