Reports this week suggest that Ezequiel Lavezzi could be the highest paid player in world football and his club Hebei China Fortune compared him to Diego Maradona when he signed but there has been little to justify any of this in the year or so since Pocho arrived in China.

However, on Friday the Argentina international provided a glimpse of his quality with a sensational goal in Hebei’s 1-1 draw away to Guangzhou R&F.

Picking the ball up on halfway, Lavezzi drove past three defenders and rifled it into the bottom corner from the edge of the box for his third of the season.

The goal coming in the 86th minute appeared to be giving Hebei a valuable three points but Guangzhou equalised almost immediately to ensure a share of the points.
