He may have missed out on the Argentina squad this week but Sergio Agüero continued to do what he does best on Sunday with a brace in Manchester City’s comfortable 5-0 win over Watford.
With 33 for the season, it has been Agüero’s most prolific and his latest double now puts his City tally on 169, just eight behind club record scorer Eric Brook.
With the arrival of Brazilian Gabriel Jesus, there has been speculation that this would be the Argentinian’s last at the Etihad and the opportunity to become the top scorer would be lost but Pep Guardiola unequivocally confirmed that Agüero was going nowhere.

Vincent Kompany had already headed City in front at Vicarage Road when Agüero dashed clear to double the lead and shortly after the Argentina international tapped in his second after Leroy Sane had left him with an open goal.
Fernandinho and Gabriel Jesus completed the rout with City confirming their third-place finish and Champions League qualification with ease.

It has been a frustrating season for City despite Agüero’s scoring achievements and next year Guardiola will need to bring silverware to the club. Kun’s goals will be crucial to that and the striker will be hoping not only to write himself into the club record books but claim his place back in the Argentina squad.
