The superhero masks of Sacachispas and their subsequent giant killing act against Arsenal in the Copa Argentina already made headlines but on Friday evening Los Villeros sealed promotion to the Metropolitana B for the first time in the club’s history with a 2-2 draw against Dock Sud.
Since the club’s foundation in 1948, named after a fictitious team from a 1948 movie, Sacachispas reached the highest point in their history after deservedly capturing the Primera C title.
Maxi Quinteros scored twice in the opening 17 minutes and although on both occasions Dock Sud came back to equalise, the point was enough to take an unassailable lead at the top of the table.
With three matches still to play Sacachispas know that they will be playing in the third tier of Argentine football.
