Lanus continued their impressive start to the season with another win but did concede their first goal of the championship. A 2 – 1 win over Arsenal at home put them back above River and maintains their unbeaten start to the season. In Monday’s later game, Argentinos Juniors dismal start to the season continued as they lost 3 – 1 at home to Quilmes. REPORTS AND GOALS HERE….
LANUS 2 – 1 ARSENAL
First half goals from Ismael Blanco and Silvio Romero were enough to give Lanus another victory as Guillermo Scheletto’s side continue to impress. Arsenal manager, Gustavo Alfaro was sent off before half time furious that the officials had missed an off the ball incident. Romero had the chance to put the game beyond doubt but his second half penalty was saved leaving a nervy finish as Arsenal grabbed a late goal through Milton Celiz.
ARGENTINOS JUNIORS 1 – 3 QUILMES
Argentinos Juniors’ worries increased after a hugely disappointing defeat at home to Quilmes. After some woeful defending and a weak clearance by the goalkeeper, Sebastian Romero spectacularly gave Quilmes the lead when he punished their mistake from nearly the halfway line. If the first goal was good the second was absolutely stunning – Wilfredo Olivero’s dipping volley from 40+ yards stealing the headlines. Argentinos pulled one back when Matias Martinez headed in from a corner but Quilmes made certain when Jacobo Mansilla curled home a superb freekick.
