After a slow start, the South American under 17 championships has come to life, as far as Argentina are concerned, courtesy of a spectacular overhead kick from Sebastian Druissi and an on pitch fight against Uruguay. Tuesday night’s clash with neighbours Uruguay ended in a 3 – 3 draw but will be remembered for different reasons. Having lost their opening two games to Ecuador and Paraguay, Argentina looked hard pushed to reach the final group stage but wins over Venezuela and Colombia made sure of qualification and now in the final group after two games Argentina sit on top, three games away from possible glory. Sebastian Druissi is now the joint top scorer in the competition with 4 goals but he will be playing a long time before he scores a better goal than his first against Uruguay. The River Plate front man soon added a second but Uruguay came back strongly and turned the game around, thanks in part to two sendings off. Leading 3 – 2 it took a last gasp goal from 16 year old, Marcelo Storm to earn a point for Argentina. There weren’t the most gracious scences following the equiliser and this prompted the ensuing fracas after the game.
