Tigre will be mightily relieved to be taking even the most slender of leads to Paraguay after Olimpia will be aggrieved at two penalty decisions that were not given. A well taken volley on the turn by Gabriel Peñalba gave Tigre the lead after 26 minutes but there was a degree of Paraguayan anger that they were not level at the break as the Ecuadorian referee failed to give at least one clear penalty. Tigre obviously buoyed by their luck were the better side in the second half and went two goals ahead when Matias Perez Garcia headed in a cross from the left. Two goals to the good and Tigre would have been full of confidence but a fine free kick by Herminio Miranda pulled a goal back for the visitors. Taking any sort of lead into the second league is good but the gloss was certainly taken off by the away goal and the knee injury to Ruben Botta, Tigre will be praying that this is not too serious. GOALS HERE….
