Argentinos Juniors terrible run of form continued at home on Monday night and plunged them deeper into trouble. With Independiente having found some life, Argentinos Juniors are now nervously looking below them in the table but with one league win this season they are in a deep rut at a bad time. Last night’s 3-1 home defeat to Belgrano leaves them in a precarious position. At the other end of the table, Lanus missed the chance to back to the top of the table as they could only muster a 0-0 draw in Victoria, with Tigre. The result leaves them a point behind leaders Newell’s Old Boys with 5 games remaining. SEE THE GOALS HERE….
ARGENTINOS JUNIORS 1 – 3 BELGRANO
Belgrano’s early Lucas Melano goal was cancelled out by Anibal Metellan’s bundled effort from a corner but the good news for Argentinos stopped there. After half an hour, Fernando Marquez put Belgrano back in front and on the hour mark Martin Dario Zapata put the result beyond doubt. As the fans of Argentinos got restless and voiced their displeasure at their sides toothless performance a set of false teeth were hurled at the dugout, narrowly missing manager, Caruso Lombardi.
TIGRE 0 – 0 LANUS
Despite still being unbeaten a seventh draw has seriously dented Lanus’s title challenge. The side out of the top 8 who have failed to score in the most games once again drew a blank as they left Tigre with only a point. That could have been worse had Matias Perez Garcia’s wonderful effort in injury time not come back off the inside of the post. Tigre goalkeeper, Damian Albil thought it was a goal, sadly for Tigre it wasn’t.
