The search for Luis Zubeldia’s replacement as Racing manager looks to have been resolved after first choice, Claudio Borghi ruled himself out leaving the door open for Carlos Ischia. It is understood that Borghi was offered the role on the same terms as Zubeldia, substantially less than he earned as the manager of the Chilean national side, but this was not the only factor in the decision. Borghi didn’t wait for a counter-offer from Racing and informed them that he would not be interested. So Racing will now meet with their backup option, Carlos Ischia. The 56-year-old former Boca Juniors manager is widely expected to accept this and will be in place very soon. Ischia obviously brings far more experience than Zubeldia, and so Racing will be hoping he will be able to get the best out of their array of talented youngsters. As a title winner with Boca back in 2008, Ischia has the necessary experience and knows all about working under pressure.
