Arsenal will face San Lorenzo in the final of the Copa Argentina after finally seeing off All Boys on penalties last night. With the game tied at 1-1, spot kicks were needed to decide the outcome and although All Boys led throughout the shootout and had the opportunity to book their place in the final when Javier Campora stepped up to take the fifth. All Boys will look back ruefully on this Copa Argentina Semi Final as perhaps ‘the one that got away’. Not only for the missed opportunities from the penalty spot but the decisions in normal time which cost them.

After only 16 minutes, All Boys had the ball in the net when Carlos Casteglione had poked the ball in following a corner. However, the linesman’s flag was raised and much to the disbelief of Julio Cesar Falcioni, the game remained locked at 0-0.

Minutes later, it was Arsenal who led and Casteglione was at the centre of the action again. This time he brought down Jonathan Ferrari to concede a penalty and Milton Caraglio took full advantage.

This was all too much for Falcioni and after half an hour he was sent to the stands. This did not deter his side from attacking in the second half and eventually they found an equaliser. Jonathan Calleri rose in the box to head the ball past Cristian Campestrini.

Arsenal came closest to snatching it in normal time when Nicolas Aguirre crashed a shot against the bar but neither side could avoid the inevitable penalties.

Milton Caraglio missed early for Arsenal and so All Boys led throughout. The final chance fell to Javier Campora, one successful penalty would put All Boys in the Final but Campora’s fiercely struck effort cleared the cross bar and kept Arsenal in the game. Damian Perez rolled in his effort putting the pressure back on All Boys, and sadly Jonathan Ferrari buckled.
