As River Plate search for ways to find the back of the net and actually win some games, Ramon Diaz looks set to turn to the talents of 17 year-old striker, Sebastian Druissi. The youngster is more famous for his spectacular exploits with Argentina’s under 17 team but could be about to replace Giovani Simone in the lineup for Sunday’s match with Argentinos Juniors.
Fresh off the back of Argentina’s fourth placed finish at the Under 17 World Cup and scoring two in the reserve victory over Racing this week, Druissi is being fast-tracked into the first team.
Judging by the team that Ramon Diaz lined up in training, Druissi will partner Colombian, Teo Gutierrez up front.
In other changes, Carlos Carbonero loses his place in the side and surprisingly the controversial, Juan Carlos Menseguez comes into the side. With the length of time he has been out injured it will be interesting to see what he adds to the side.
Additionally there are forced changes in the defence due to the suspensions to Gabriel Mercado and Eder Alvarez Balanta. Jonathan Maidana and Ramiro Funes Mori are expected to replace them in what is a considerably weaker looking backline.
The lineup in training was: Marcelo Barovero; Jonathan Maidana, German Pezzella, Ramiro Funes Mori, Leonel Vangioni; Juan Carlos Menseguez, Matías Kranevitter, Ariel Rojas, Manuel Lanzini; Teo Gutierrez and Sebastian Driussi
