The Torneo Final is still a month away but as the teams prepare for the big kickoff a series of pretty meaningless friendly tournaments is scheduled around the country. One part pre-season fitness and one part, marketing strategy to milk as much money from clasicos as possible the first took place in Mar Del Plata on Saturday night. Estudiantes faced River Plate and as both sides fielded fairly inexperienced lineups a pretty disjointed 1-1 draw was played out in front of a crowd just shy of 9,000. Carlos Auzqui gave Estudiantes the lead just before the break tapping in after good work by Joaquín Correa but Ramon Diaz made changes at the break and River were much improved. Matías Kranevitter strengthened the midfield while fellow substitute, Giovani Simeone grabbed the equaliser when he finished a fine break. It was a rare moment of quality in an otherwise dull match.
