Manchester City are bracing themselves for a massive bid for Argentine striker, Sergio Agüero as Real Madrid have reportedly set their sights on the former Atlético and Independiente star. Having given up on efforts to prise Luis Suarez from Liverpool, Agüero is top of the Champions League winners transfer list.
Agüero is currently back in Buenos Aires with the Argentina Squad preparing for the World Cup and any move will most likely wait until after the tournament in Brazil.
It seems Real are not totally convinced by Karim Benzema and with the French striker maybe moving elsewhere, Agüero could be the man to provide the goals to fire Madrid back to the top of La Liga.
Real President, Florentino Perez ominously said, “Right now, there is no real urgency to sign any new players. We are not thinking about making a move for Aguero – at the moment.”
Manchester City would be determined to keep hold of their first-choice striker even after his injury plagued season when he still managed to plunder 28 goals from his 34 appearances in all competitions.
Real were the top goal scorers in La Liga so perhaps the money could be better spent but if they were to replace Benzema they would be hard pushed to find a better striker in world football.
There are still persistant rumours of interest from Barcelona too, with Messi said to be keen to link up with his compatriot. If a bidding war ensues after a successful World Cup we could see yet another monster transfer bid from Spain.
£60m? Not a chance in hell unless they throw De Maria in as well
