Independiente left it late but their 2-1 victory over Instituto in Córdoba means that they are within touching distance of a return to the Primera. Huracán’s earlier win over Unión meant that El Rojo were unable to confirm their promotion today but were still in desperate need of a win if they wanted to keep their fate in their own hands on the final day. Instituto themselves were battling for the final spot and when they took an early lead through Raúl Damiani it looked as if it could be a good day for the Cordobeses. However, a wonderful, long range strike from captain, Rolfi Montenegro pulled Independiente level and with minutes remaining, Sebastián Penco smashed in a loose ball from a corner. The result means Independiente lead Huracán by two points with just one game remaining. Independiente host Patronato and Huracán travel to La Matanza to play Almirante Brown.
