Angel Di María is racing against the clock to be fit for Sunday’s World Cup Final against Germany. Suffering from a slight muscle tear picked up in the Quarter Final victory over Belgium, Di María is training alone in an attempt to prove his fitness and return to Sabella’s starting eleven. Meanwhile, reports are suggesting Manchester United have offered the Real Madrid midfielder, a £150,000-a-week contract.
While the rest of the squad returned to a light session on Thursday in Cidade do Galo, Angel Di María was separate, with some running and minimal ball work.
With the World Cup Final just two days away, it is will be tight to see whether Di María will make it back in time. Enzo Pérez performed superbly against the Netherlands and Sabella would have no worries with including the Benfica player again but Di María offers something a little more.
Whether or not he will make it back in time, he will surely not be 100% and so a place in the starting eleven might be a stretch.
Marcos Rojo also missed the session with some bruising around his ankle but that should not be a concern and the left back will return to training. Friday will see the training intensify as final preparations get underway.
While, Di María battles for fitness, Metro has reported that Manchester United have offered him a £150,000-a-week contract in an effort to sign him from Real Madrid.
The rumour has been on-going for the past few days as Madrid eye a move for James Rodriguez, they will cash in on Di María. A fee of around £40 million is reportedly wanted and with Louis van Gaal keen it remains to be seen how much United want the 26-year-old.
It is also thought Di María has had offers from Paris St Germain, Monaco and two Italian clubs.
