Real Madrid look to have accepted that Sami Khedira will be leaving the Bernabeu this summer and have identified Lazio and Argentina’s, Lucas Biglia as a replacement according to reports in Spain. A €15 million transfer could be in the works after Biglia impressed for Argentina during the World Cup.

Biglia’s agent, Enzo Montepaone has stated that there are a number of offers for his 28-year-old client from around Europe but the one from Real Madrid is certainly the most eye catching.

With rumours that Madrid have accepted a £20 million offer from Arsenal for German international, Sami Khedira, Madrid find themselves in the market for a central midfield player.

Biglia certainly enhanced his reputation in Brazil forcing his way into the side and displacing Fernando Gago as Alejandro Sabella’s first choice partner for Javier Mascherano. His high energy performances winning the ball but also pushing forward to support the attack make him a desirable central midfielder.

Having signed a 5-year-deal with Lazio just a year ago for around €7 million the Serie A club would be making a tidy profit on a player who was a regular in the midfield last season as they finished ninth.

A move to Madrid would be the pinnacle of Biglia’s career which has steadily progressed since making his debut for Argentinos Juniors in 2004. A move to Independiente was followed by a transfer to Anderlecht where he won four league titles between 2006 and 2013.

The switch to Italy was viewed as a progression from the Belgian Pro League but a potential move to one of the biggest clubs in the world would see Biglia establish himself as one of Europe’s top midfielders and could see him further cement his place in La Albiceleste’s starting eleven.
